RIP Windows 7 Support for Windows 7 is official Ends

Microsoft ends the support for Windows 7 today (Jan 14, 2020). Microsoft is dropping the support for Windows 7 nearly after 11 years.

Windows 7 Operating System became so popular that it took Windows 10 nearly 4 years just to pass it in the market share,

But even today, millions of the PCs users are still running Windows 7 OS, and the OS still runs on a massive 26% of all PCs according to data from Netmarketshare.

Microsoft spent years trying to get users to upgrade their Windows 7 to Windows 10 free of charge but 10 of millions of PCs will now be left vulnerable to exploits and security vulnerabilities.

Education and Business users of the Windows 7 will be able to pay for extended security updates but it could be a more costly venture for some.

Microsoft is now easing these costs with a free year of post-retirement updates to Windows 7 users with active Windows 10 subscriptions.

That has not made a big dent in Windows 7 market share recently.

Microsoft has been notifying the users of Windows 7 throughout 2019 about today’s end of support.

So people still stuck on the OS can not say they have not been warned.

A full-screen notification will appear for the users of the Windows 7 users a warning that id systems are now out of support.

Microsoft is trying to convince existing Windows 7 users to upgrade to machines running the OS Windows 10.
