Vivo shows off NEX 3 sketches and waterfall curved glass

Vivo shows off NEX 3 sketches and ‘waterfall’ curved glass

Oppo showcased its waterfall display concept phone with 88-degree curved edges.

Several days after that Vivo's product manager Li Xiang posted a picture showcasing the upcoming NEX 3’s curved display panel which also features quite a pronounced curve resembling Oppo’s prototype.

The sketches show that Vivo is also using the waterfall metaphor to describe the near-90 degree curvature of the glass’s edges, as with the prototype device that sister company Oppo unveiled last month.

The back panel of the new NEX has a circular protrusion to house three cameras, which appears to have been inspired by watch design.

The phone won’t feature a notch so we’ll likely see a pop-up camera and due to the extremely curved sides, there aren’t going to be any side buttons.

Apart from the display, the sketch also gives us our first look at the back of the NEX 3 which features a circular cutout for the triple camera.

According to Xiang, the inspiration behind it comes from the circular casing of a wristwatch.

There hasn’t been a new NEX since, and expectations will be raised for Vivo to turn in some characteristically unique hardware soon.
